How to Choose a Bond Platform
We do not rank platforms. What we can give you is the checklist we would use ourselves.
The 8-point checklist
- 1Is the platform registered with as an (OBPP)? Check the registration number, and check it on SEBI's own site.
- 2How many years has it been operating, and who is behind it?
- 3Are all fees, charges and spreads shown clearly, before you commit money?
- 4Does it show the full of every bond, with the rating agency's name?
- 5Can you see the actual bond documents — the or offer document?
- 6How does money move: does it go straight to your and a settlement system, or does the platform hold it?
- 7Is there a real, reachable grievance channel, with a named officer and a response time?
- 8What do independent reviews and regulator actions say about it — not just testimonials on its own site?
Warning signs worth walking away from
- Promises of "guaranteed" or "assured" returns.
- Pressure to invest quickly, or a countdown timer on an offer.
- No visible SEBI registration details, or vague wording about who is licensed.
- Ratings shown without naming the rating agency, or no rating shown at all.
- Fees that only appear at the payment step.
- No clear way to reach a human when something goes wrong.
And the free route, always
Before any platform, remember RBI Retail Direct — the government's own portal for buying government securities directly, with no middleman and no commission to anyone, including us.
IndiBond does not currently have any partnership or commission agreement with any bond platform. Any platform named on this page is mentioned for illustration only, so you can see what this step of the process looks like.
This article is for general education only. It does not rank, rate, or recommend any specific platform. Every person's situation is different — please do your own check, or talk to a licensed adviser, before investing.
Quick check
Two or three questions. Nothing is stored on our servers — this stays on your device.
1. Which registration should you look for on a bond platform?
2. Which of these is a warning sign?
3. Which free, government-run route exists before any platform?
