What Indian savers told us
Based on a small self-reported survey of 60 Indian retail investors — shared for directional insight only.
85%
said bonds feel complicated — that's exactly why we built this.
37%
never bought a bond simply because they didn't understand it.
₹1,000
was the most common comfortable starting amount.
2%
currently hold bonds, even though 53% already invest in mutual funds.
How a bond actually works
The same worked example we use in the guide: ₹1,000, at 7%, for 3 years.
You lend money
You buy a ₹1,000 bond. That ₹1,000 goes to the borrower for 3 years.
You get paid regularly
At 7% a year, the borrower pays you ₹70 each year — ₹210 over three years.
You get your money back
At the end of year 3, the borrower returns your ₹1,000 — if it can pay.

Four promises we'd like to be held to
- We'll never pretend to be a bank. We are not a government body either.
- We'll never tell you exactly which bond to buy — that is personal advice, and we are not licensed to give it.
- We'll never hide when a link earns us money.
- We'll always mention RBI Retail Direct too — it's a free, government-run way to buy bonds directly, with no middleman and no commission to anyone, including us.
